Accessibility Statement
The Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman (FSPO) is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with European Union (Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications of Public Sector Bodies) Regulations 2020.
This accessibility statement applies to content published on www.fspo.ie which was launched on 1 January 2018.
PDF Documents
The FSPO makes use of Portable Document Format (PDF) documents. Some documents on our website are available in this format. Most browsers will now open PDFs without the requirement to download additional software. However, you have the option to install the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software as an alternative method.
Should you have any issue downloading documents from our website, please email us at communications@fspo.ie.
Compliance Status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 level AA due to the exemptions listed below.
The HTML pages of the site meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:
(b) disproportionate burden
Some, but not all, of the PDFs on our website, may not be fully accessible. Many documents are published as PDFs, which are less accessible than HTML pages for people using assistive technologies. We have attempted to publish only accessible PDFs using the resources available to us.
We have also reviewed older PDFs and re-published them in a more accessible format, where resources have been available. Some issues which may still arise with PDFs on this website are:
- Path object errors
- Role mapping errors
- Structure tree warnings
- Colour contrast issues on older documents
We are working to improve the accessibility compliance of our website and will endeavour to apply all accessibility standards to content being published to our website.
(c) the content is not within the scope of the applicable legislation
- Content published prior to 23 September 2018 is exempt under the EU Web Accessibility Directive. This would therefore include the archive websites of the Financial Services Ombudsman and the Office of the Pensions Ombudsman which are linked from our website.
- PDF documents produced by other organisations but shared on the FSPO's website.
Please contact us if there is any inaccessible content that was published to our predecessor sites prior to September 2018 that you wish to receive in accessible format, and we will endeavour to assist you.
If you require any content published after 23 September 2018 which is not currently updated to an accessible format, please contact us and we would be glad to assist you also. Please advise us as to the nature of the issue when accessing the content.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was last updated on 18 May 2026.
This statement follows an evaluation of the website’s compliance with the requirements of Directive (EU) 2016/2102 which was carried out by way of a self-assessment against WCAG 2.2.
The website accessibility evaluation tool used was axe-core 4.11.3 in Firefox and included manual testing of the 50 most popular pages. The PDFs on the website were self-assessed by the FSPO using PAC- PDF Accessibility Checker and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
